Many businesses would have planned to launch over the last few months. Those plans are completely scuppered by Covid 19. Launching amidst a crisis is never a good idea, especially one where it becomes impossible to even operate in certain industries. So, most have pushed their startup launches back until whenever the crisis abates. If you’re launching after lockdown, you could be launching into an uneasy market which is just starting to get back on its feet. Or, you could be launching into a global recession. Whatever the case, with a lot of businesses interrupted, there will certainly be a lot of opportunity. People will be champing at the bit to get back to their normal lives which means being consumers and being able to spend money where they like. You and your business can tap into this if you’re careful. However, there are traps you don’t want to fall into. Some you might find are pretty obvious. Others might not be on your radar. Either way, they can help adjust your mentality so you’re thinking about things in the right way. Excitement is great, but temper it with care and consideration or your business may be in trouble.
Cover Yourself
It’s important to ensure you’re covered against anything which may go wrong in your business. These of course can completely change depending on what kind of industry you’re in. For example, if you’re going into the auto industry you might ask How does traders insurance work? Perhaps you’re opening a restaurant, then you need to make sure it’s ensured and protected. Think about an alarm system and a money management system. Always make sure you’re covered. If something terrible happens you’ll be able to continue trading. Think about how many businesses COVID wiped out because they didn’t have the right kinds of insurance or protections in place. Spend some time really educating yourself to ensure your business is protected from all angles. Research is key here and it should form part of your business plan going forward.

SubscribeSo many people launch their business with a tardy website, or sometimes with a website that’s not been properly complete or finished at all. You need to ensure your website is finished and to a high standard. If you don’t, you can bet your bottom dollar your competitors will. Then who do you think they’ll do business with? Get it right. Make sure it’s laid out logically. Have a look at competitors to see what they’re doing well and what you can do to make things even better. Ensure things are easy to buy, and that customers don’t have to jump through countless loopholes to get what they want. It’s all about making the pathways logical, ensuring they don’t trip people up. If they do, they’ll just leave and go to your competitor. Ensure you use a good developer too. If you think you can launch well without a website, go for it and develop one later on. If your business is dependent on online sales then you need to ensure that your website is just as good or better than your competitors. After all, how can you expect you garner sales if no one knows you exist.
Don’t Hire In Advance
You can’t hire in advance because you won’t know what the market looks like post covid-19. Sure you might need some help for the few days when you initially set up. Depending on your industry there might be no way you can go into business without staff. Just don’t over hire. The experts and analysts are all predicting a recession after the crisis, so people might be a little more careful depending on what industry you’re in. If this is the case you don’t want unnecessary overheads which are going to eat into your profits and stop you making money. Especially if the staff you hire will be expensive. Think it through. See if you can get some other forms of help if you need it from family and friends without actually hiring someone. You must make sure those you do hire are right. The right person can be better than three or four others who don’t really know what they’re doing. Test the waters once you’ve launched. If things are moving a lot faster than you would have liked, hire someone, especially if you think having someone else will improve the productivity of your business and allow for more sales. If things are slow then you know you’ve made the right choice.
