Have you ever been to a cafe or even a restaurant and you just couldn’t help but take pictures? You just couldn’t help but make videos and share them with people you know or even online? Well, that’s calculated! While sure, they’re usually in touristy places, it doesn’t need to be. Usually, social media-friendly businesses tend to have it on easy mode when it comes to getting their business promoted on social media.

If you have a place where people can enjoy their food while making some content at the same time, you can expect that they’ll share this online, and who knows, maybe it’ll go viral on TikTok or somewhere else. But of course, it’s not about the design but the food and coffee, too. So, with all of that said, if you want to make your own social media-friendly cafe that’s guaranteed to make you go viral, where do you even start?

It’s All About the Power of Aesthetics

First things first, you really need to understand that it’s all about the power of aesthetics. Yes, you read that right! Your café needs to be drop-dead gorgeous. As in, it needs to look like it can be straight from a magazine! You’ll need to think of your interior design as your café’s personality. Is it quirky and colorful? Minimalist and chic? Vintage and cozy? Whatever your style, go all out.

So, there are plenty of ways to go about this as well, such as having walls dripping in vibrant murals, cozy corners with eclectic furniture, or even a stunning floral installation – these are the things that make people whip out their phones and snap a pic. Even the furniture and layouts play a big role, too; for example, if you have restaurant tables and an adorable table setup, customers will go crazy for that, too!

Some little things you should think about too would be natural light, hands down this is your best friend, so make sure your space is bathed in sunlight. Ideally, it’s best to think about how each nook and cranny of your café will look through a camera lens. Every corner should be Instagrammable.

Create a Signature Drink

Alright, so let’s face it: coffee is your main squeeze, but what makes your café stand out in a sea of caffeine? While yes, your cafe needs to be cute, it needs to be TikTok and Instagrammable-friendly, but that shouldn’t be all either. A signature drink, my friend! Something that’s not only delicious but also visually stunning. Maybe it’s a galaxy latte with swirls of color, a matcha masterpiece, or a decadent, over-the-top milkshake.

Your signature drink should be something people can’t get anywhere else, something they just have to post about because it’s so darn cool. Ideally, you’ll need to play with colors, textures, and even unusual ingredients. And remember, presentation is key. Besides, think of it this way: a beautifully presented drink is like catnip for social media.

Host Unique Events

You have to keep in mind that people love an experience. Give them something to talk about by hosting unique events at your café. Again, it’s about standing out, and this is by far a pretty unique way to stand out. For example, you might want to think of latte art classes, poetry slams, live music nights, or even themed brunches. But generally speaking, events create a buzz and give people a reason to visit your café again and again.

Just make sure to capture these events on your social media channels too. Essentially, you’ll want to show the fun, the laughter, the community. This not only attracts more customers but also makes your café a staple in the local scene. This might be obvious, but surprise surprise, not all social media friendly businesses are that active on social media.

Incorporate Interactive Elements

Believe it or not, but interactive elements are a great way to engage your customers and encourage them to share their experiences. So, you’ll want to think about adding a photo booth with fun props, a giant chalkboard wall where people can leave messages or doodles, or even a unique table design that doubles as a game or conversation starter.

But overall, people love to engage with their environment, especially if it gives them something fun to post about. Make these elements a standout part of your café’s charm.

Collaborate with Influencers

Love them or hate them, influencers can give your café a serious boost. So it might be helpful to partner with local influencers to create buzz and bring in new customers. Host exclusive influencer events or offer them a free meal in exchange for a post.

Encourage User-Generated Content

Last but not least, ideally, you should encourage your customers to share their experiences online. You’ll need to offer incentives like discounts or a chance to be featured on your café’s social media. Plus, you should create visually appealing “Instagrammable” spots in your café with signs that encourage people to snap and share.
