Internet service provider Zzoomm has brought its 2Gbps speed Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network to 29 locations in England. Around 200,000 premises are now connected to its Full Fibre broadband, up 50,000 after reaching 150,000 in 2023. In April 2024, Zzoomm had 25,000 customers, gaining 2,000 in just over a month. CEO Matthew Hare remarked that the company is quickly heading towards 30,000 customers.

The demand for FTTP broadband is steadily increasing, especially with the need for a fast and reliable internet connection to support the use of technology and digital devices for home and work. Zzoomm is looking to expand to more areas and premises to bring lightning-fast speeds to more homes and businesses across the region, allowing more to benefit from Full Fibre connectivity.

About Full Fibre broadband

An FTTP network or Full Fibre broadband offers users a fast and reliable internet connection through fibre optic cables. Traditional broadband uses copper cables to connect premises to the internet.

Fibre-to-the-Cabinet (FTTC) networks use a fibre optic cable to connect the exchange to the street cabinet and use copper wire from the cabinet to your home and other establishments in the area. Copper cables tend to face signal interferences and can be unreliable and slow depending on weather conditions and distance from the cabinet. An FTTP connection, what Zzoomm provides, uses stable and resilient fibre optic cables running from the exchange all the way to the home. Full fibre cables ensure faster speeds, a stable connection, reliability in harsh weather, and symmetrical speeds, among many other benefits. Users also won’t have to worry about their distance from the cabinet or busier peak hours, as the fibre connection remains speedy regardless of how many are connected.

Zzoomm’s Full Fibre offerings

Zzoomm offers a variety of Full Fibre broadband plans to connect premises to ultrafast and reliable internet. Its technology is built on 10Gbps technology to provide gigabit speeds. Clients can sign up to plans including 150Mbps, 500Mbps, 1Gbps, and 2Gbps to suit their needs. Regardless of the chosen plan, these internet speeds are much higher than those reached with FTTC or traditional broadband; customers can enjoy uninterrupted streaming, lag-free gaming, symmetrical download and upload speeds, and more while sticking to their budget. For an optimal connection, Zzoomm also offers extra Wi-Fi points around the home through the latest Wi-Fi 6 internet technology. This prevents dead zones and keeps the internet reliable regardless of where people are situated on the premises.

UK’s Full Fibre boom

The increasing demand for Zzoomm’s FTTP broadband solutions isn’t unprecedented. As technology and digital solutions become more common in everyday life and society, the UK has been pushing for increased Full Fibre broadband connectivity, aiming to expand the number of homes and businesses that can access gigabit speeds. Not only do homes get to enjoy seamless and fast browsing, gaming, working, streaming, and more, but the fast and reliable connectivity FTTP offers can be crucial for business and overall economic growth. Many companies across a myriad of industries have integrated more digital solutions into their operations, which may require stronger internet connectivity to run smoothly.

Tech companies have also emerged as significant contributors to the UK’s economy and status as a global tech and science powerhouse. Since 2022, nearly a quarter of all UK tech companies reached Series C or made an exit, showcasing the developments in the sector in the region. However, 50% are still in early growth stages and require more support. Connecting these businesses to Full Fibre broadband could be a massive boost to their development efforts, enabling them to leverage the technology they need to enhance their offerings.
