SubscribeCompetition in Ecommerce Encourages a Longer Holiday Season
The festive period has always been a busy time for businesses, even before the internet boom. But there’s no doubt that the enormous growth of ecommerce over the last 20 years has helped holiday sales to boom.
Now, it feels like everywhere you look, there are special Christmas promotions. Businesses need to capitalise on this period with special releases and offers, as their rivals are doing the same. And with ecommerce being so highly competitive, it has turned into a contest as to who can put on the best deals.
One of the most notable things about the ecommerce era has been the emphasis on Black Friday, which is now closely followed by Cyber Monday. These promotions allow businesses to start generating Christmas hype early, and have become known as some of the best offers available all year. Many products face over 50 percent discounts, while it’s also a great time to pick up annual online subscriptions to certain services. For example, TradingView’s Black Friday discount offers 80 percent off its Premium membership package.
Brands Are Coming Up with Popular Christmas Specials
The Christmas period isn’t just about special offers and promotions, and there are various other ways that companies can jump on the holiday hype early. This often comes in the form of special releases that are only available during the festive season. When these offerings are good enough, they can stoke excitement all year round.
For example, the holiday drinks and food items at Starbucks are so popular that people flood stores around the world as soon as they are released. The entertainment industry is famous for jumping on this as well, with countless new Christmas films released every year. The gaming industry does it too, with various festive editions of UK slots, such as Gold Trio Santa Surprise and Fishin’ Frenzy: The Big Christmas Catch.
What’s notable about all of these Christmas-related offerings is that they are launching earlier every year. It’s not out of the ordinary now to find festive products and content in November. What’s more, companies are finding that this can have just as strong an impact as if they waited until December.
Most companies agree that you need to get past Halloween before you can start with Christmas promotions. However, after the marketing for that season ends, there’s no reason not to begin with the holiday festivities. Soon, it may become the norm for most Christmas promotions to release in November.
