We are facing a tough economic climate. Due to lockdowns and enforced closures of many businesses, you might be concerned about how your company is going to survive in the coming months or years. We understand it’s going to be difficult, but everyone is in the same boat so below you’ll find some ideas for ways to keep going, and possibly grow your business, even during a lockdown.
Get your online orders up to scratch-If you have an online element to your company, now is the time to divert most of your resources into getting that more established. Make sure you are using order management software that is appropriate for your product and user-friendly – as well as being attractive and in-keeping with the rest of your website.
If you think it’s easy to use and engaging, but the orders are still few and far between, do some Beta testing. Invite your followers on social media to use the system and offer the first five volunteers a voucher to do so – on the proviso that they give you detailed feedback on their thoughts about the system. Not only will this generate social media interest, but it will also allow you to gain insight into how you can improve your system from the people who will be using it.

SubscribeMake sure you have a good delivery service-When you are focusing on online shopping, you really need to make sure you have a trusted parcel collection service. Orders should be delivered on time, and to the customer’s specifications. Not only that, but make sure that returning goods is straightforward and a user-friendly process. There’s nothing worse than being out of pocket because you’ve had to purchase the same thing on multiple occasions.
Once a product has been safely delivered to a customer, it’s worth sending out an email to thank them for the order and ask for feedback. Are they satisfied with the product? Did it arrive in a timely fashion? Customers are a great resource and you won’t have the face-to-face opportunities to gather feedback that you usually would so many the most of every chance you get.
Don’t argue with people online-Remember, customers are much more likely to post or Tweet about something that’s upset them. But don’t have an argument with them about it in the comments. Instead, publicly admit the mistake and then move the conversation to a private message to discuss how to move forwards.
Take advantage of social media-Now is the time when people will be spending more time browsing the internet, whether that’s to stay in touch with friends and family, for entertainment, work, fitness or shopping. You can make the most out of this opportunity and really push your online presence. Remember, the majority of your social media content shouldn’t be sales driven. Instead, think about what your customers like and are interested in and share relevant content, as well as posting pictures and insights to stay connected.
